Since I'm building a work wardrobe, I'd love to snag a pair of the Minnie pants (lusting for the hot pink), their epic No. 2 pencil skirt, and some work-appropriate tops, from silk tops to crisp bitton-downs.

Oh, the shoes. And the jewelry! And come on, the BAGS!

Can I buy everything? :)

Final Giveaway Day! CLOSED

Today is the last day to enter to win a $100 J.Crew giftcard!!

I love J.Crew because I am just as likely to walk out of there with some great staples (think comfy tees, flats in every color, pencil skirts and blazers for every day of work and beyond) as I am to leave with something shiny, sparkly and all around fabulous. (And helloooooooooooooooo shiny, sparkly and all around fabulous is my jam duh!). I equal parts think of J.Crew as a simple, classic look as I see it as a fun, quirky look.

(I've been traveling and taking only the most heinous of pictures lately so please excuse the following!)

Seriously, I know the pictures are legitimately awful but I couldn't miss snapping this head to toe look of all sorts of amazing J.Crew pieces. Is there anything better than a crisp J.Crew button down? Only if you get one with a jeweled collar obvs! And a sequin pencil skirt? Swooon!

To win the last of my J.Crew $100 giftcards follow this blog and comment below what your favorite statement piece at J.Crew is. Click here to shop through all the prints, jewels, and fabulous shoes!

Giveaway Day Two: closed

I said I was going to be sharing all my favorite things about J.Crew this week and if you know me at all, or have read through this blog at all... you saw this coming...

I love J.Crew because of Crewcuts! And the fact that it means Gwen and I can match!!!! There is nothing better in Bronwynland than being twinners with my mini me! Nope, I don't think it is cheesy, nor do I think it's too much. I think matching Gwen is fabulous!

J.Crew makes it freakishly easy for us to match. They make so many prints and pieces in both mom and mini mom size and I of course am obligated to buy all of it. #duh.

Get the pineapple pieces for women here and a similar skirt here and kids here, and of course the cutest matching swimsuit for kids here and women here, here and here. Now if only J.Crew sold the confidence to model swimsuits on my blog!

I also love Crewcuts because it is PERFECT for Gwen. Crewcuts happens to fit her pretty darn well, has totally quality construction and is kid proof!

I spent the first few years of Gwen's life on the edge of a nervous breakdown watching her get milk, snacks, poop etc on baby Dior and cashmere blankets and then dying every time she outgrew a Burberry coat ($695) after two wears, or took the toes off her handmade shoes when she crawled around the playground. Having been a child who was raised by a stern, clean, prim and proper mom I know all too well the not funness of not being able to PLAY without fear of getting dirty. We had to figure out a solution that was both adorable - why have a mini me if she isn't adorbs right? (kidding... mostly!) - and yet that was tough enough to withstand a kid jumping, running, eating and rolling in dirt and grass. Ok, ok Gwen isn't a total beast, but she is tomboy. Crewcuts is washable, affordable and Gwen has yet to rip through the knees on a pair of jeans, or stain a top beyond my washing!

Stop. Please. I didn't pose this kid. She just watches me way too much. She did my signature pose and of course I had to laugh and then do it behind her.
So, now for day two of my J.Crew giveaway! I have picked a winner of yesterday's $100 gift card (to be announced Friday) and now it is time for someone to win today's!

To enter: make sure you are a follower of this blog, and then click through to see some of our fav Crewcuts pieces - if you don't have a mini me to dress alike with the grown up pieces are still totally covetable, I just use matching Gwen as an excuse to buy more stuff - then comment below what your fav is!

*for an extra entry you can share a link to this blog on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or Pinterest (note in your comment where you shared it). For a third entry you can also follow me on Instagram!

Matching pineapple tops and her Crewcuts shoes of course match my Kate Spade pair!

Giveaway Day One: closed

One of my favorite things is when someone tells me they loved something on my blog so much they went and bought one and that they love it! Aren't all the best things so much more fun when you get to share them with someone?

Sooooooo... let me share one of my not so secret favorite things.

J.Crew.

I absolutely love J.Crew. Every time a new catalog comes it is all "ohhh hello lover" and then a little bit of folding every page and circling every piece and then a little dying over how much it all adds up to. But c'est la vie.

J.Crew looks great on everyone. Seriously now. I am not at all like the J.Crew models - all perfect skin and androgynous cool good looks. Nor am I simple and clean and chic in my styling. Yet, I love J.Crew. My mom loves J. Crew. My daughter loves Crewcuts, and if that isn't the three most polar opposite people all vouching for one company than I don't know what is!

I adore that I can go into J.Crew and walk out with a whole look, a cool piece, any number of basics and wardrobe staples, and some of the best jewelry and shoes. There is truly something for everyone.

So, now here comes the sharing part... I am going to share some of my favorite J.Crew pieces, and I have already shared my J.Crew secret  - I shop there and you should too. AND for the next three days while we talk J.Crew each day I am going to give away $100 gift card!

HURRAY!

One reader will win today's $100 gift card to J.Crew, to enter the giveaway just follow the blog and leave a comment below about what you'd buy at J.Crew if you win! To get a second entry share a link to my blog and in your comment tell me where you've shared the haute mess!

Click here to browse their awesomeness!

Some examples of my love for J.Crew everyday!

Last week I went to a baseball game and wanted to look casual and stay cool in the hot weather. Everything I wore was from J.Crew, and I'd like to think that even though I am not typically a casual dresser it worked out ok!

I also find myself wearing a lot of J.Crew to work. From basic pencil skirts, button downs and silk tops, to just a fun pop of jewelry on a work dress J.Crew never lets me down!

This basic Ted Baker work dress wouldn't have been a complete outfit without the J.Crew necklace and matching bracelet!

J.Crew also jewelry has also gone with some of my fancier outfits as well. Last week for a dinner I wore one of my favorite DVF dresses and my newest J.Crew necklace for a more put together black and white evening ensemble. I told you - J.Crew stuff fits no matter what they occasion!

Now tell me... what J.Crew pieces would fill in the basic gaps in your wardrobe? Or what fun pieces would you pick to add a pop of color or jewels to your everyday outfits?

Fourth of July

We had an absolutely idyllic fourth of July.

On the third my office closed at 10 am so I was able to run out to the East Bay and squeeze in both a lunch/movie date with my dad and then an evening A's game with Gwendolyn and the Englishman.

The SF Giants are my one true love; but we were so excited nonetheless to watch a friend play and enjoy the gorgeous, perfect weather that evening.

On the fourth we saw Despicable Me 2 and died laughing. Then we went to The Claremont in Berkeley to swim (Gwen) and tan (me)!

It was no hot dog, BBQ, all American food etc but the food poolside at The Claremont cannot be beat!
Can you tell Gwen loved her A's hat from the night before? She won't take it off!

It was the perfect day.

That's the Last Straw

Things Bronwyn loves: Summer, Kate Spade, quirky bags, and poufy skirts.

Things in this post: Summer dresses, Kate Spade, quirky bags and one poufy skirt!

I adore this Kate Spade basket print dress! It is the perfect everything dress! It is light, cool, adorable, and completely versatile. Day dress, date dress, church dress, work dress, it has been in major rotation in my wadrobe lately.

I also think this cut is pretty universally flattering. With its boatneck, nice fitted bust, and (forgiving) high seamed waist with a full pleated skirt you can't go wrong! The skirt length makes it fun and swingy with flats or cute sandals, and yet it wouldn't be too short with heels! Can we agree now it is perfection?
Plus, the basket weave print?!?! Nice, neutral color that could easily be accessorized and dressed up, and will go with anything but with a pattern that keeps it fun and exciting!

For work and a lunch with some of my favorites last Friday (thanks for coming to meet me at the Ferry Building Gwen and my parentals - you are def my fav lunchmates!) I kept my look simple and easy! I just threw on the dress, one of my favorite multi color J.Crew necklaces and some pretty (albeit boring) tan flats. I dumped my personal cell, work cell, makeup bag, wallet, sunglasses case, book for the commute, cherry gummies (what? you don't keep a half pound of cherry gummies in your purse at all times? You should!) and personal office effects (figured I should finish moving into my new desk after a full week back right?) into this fun, summery Kate Spade tote that matched the theme of the basket weave print I had going on and was ready for work, the heat wave in SF and a sunny lunch on the water! Simple and chic!

That evening when I made last minute plans to run out to dinner I was able to just make two MINOR additions and be evening ready in less than three minutes! A quick coat of some M.A.C. red lipstick, and my favorite tulle skirt from Anthropologie underneath my dress! I loved the extra pouf the tulle added, and the fun texture too!

Gwen in Sevenland

For Gwen's 7th birthday party she wanted to have a Mad Tea Party/ginormous Alice in Wonderland fiesta. Which of course made me SO happy! My middle name is Alison and for the looooongest time I thought Alison Wonderland and I shared a name, which of course meant I naturally loved everything Alice in Wonderland!

As usual I made way too much food, tried to do too many decorations and had a lot of frustration that all the fabu things in my head my inept hands couldn't produce. Major "wins" for the day? Gwen couldn't have been happier, I managed to actually take pictures, AAAAAAAAAAAND I somehow caught the Englishman unawares and managed to extract a promise to dress up (he must not have been listening to what I was asking him, or known what/who Tweedle dum and Tweedle dee were when he agreed!)

We had a great time having White Rabbit sack races (hurry, don't be late), painting our own mad teacups, playing red heart croquet (don't lose your head), eating snacks, drinking tea pink lemonade and hanging with a "real" Alice or two.

All of us doing the "important things". Gwen=facepainting - I think by the time Alice left not a square inch of her face/arms etc wasn't covered in face paint! Englishman= trying the dessert table, and me= instagramming

Saved the best pic for last!
