Sequins and Seersucker

It is a week o' fashion posts over here! (just making up for lost time... and lack of blogging lately hmm?)

Tuesday seems the perfect day to pull out some sequins (although I would use any excuse to wear sequins, just call me Liberace ok?!)... Outfit basics like a cool, comfy tee or flats (this dang post bunion surgery foot still hates wearing heels!) are made dressy when covered in sequins! Add a cheetah head bracelet with rhinestones and we are golden! Pair these flashier pieces with a suiting staple and you can call it my favorite version of the summer "suit"!

Now, let's talk seersucker ok? I love it. I clearly was meant for a time long ago deep in the South. Lots of mint juleps, Kentucky Derby-ing and a good man with a Southern accent, but alas in 2013, SF and the work place is there a right way to work in those linen stripes? Of course! Seersucker got its start in suiting, so finding a way to work it at work is totally acceptable! To keep it fashion forward and not so stayed and old looking, my suggestions is to work one seersucker piece per ensemble and mix it with something quirky or tongue in cheek. Enter SEQUINS!

Seersucker wedge sandals, shorts and blazers can be found everywhere this summer- but this J.Crew skirt is the perfect seersucker wardrobe addition in my book! The pop of neon striping keeps it fresh and of course, who can beat a good J.Crew pencil skirt? The cut is perfect and flattering on almost any body size, shape or type! Get it (or one similar) and try this easy outfit: Pair the seersucker skirt (pencil or mini) with a funkier blouse, ironic T-shirt, fitted solid blazer or even a colored, cotton tank and you've got a two piece "trendy with a touch of class" outfit - which is a combination that never fails! Complete the look easily with a colored flat, or for the bold out there a contrasting pattern: for instance floral, animal print, or polka dots!

Last tip for the day: I am loving colored sunglasses this summer! From purple to red or even a bright neon! These Tom Fords are a great way to ease into the trend as their blue hue almost looks gray (and more subtle) and the ombre isn't so shockingly bright!
